the BOOK PROJECT - the protagonists -

Inka Trollsas - adventurer, outdoor skills instructor, - the woman who ‘inspired’ the whole project and without whom this project would probably have taken much longer to get off the ground!

Me….the one who had ‘the light-bulb’ moment….Rosa Matheson…lifelong protagonist for women’s issues – also some experiences with writing /producing books.

Hanna-Gael Darney – assistant to the ‘light- bulb’ lady and the one who galvanised many of her friends into writing a ‘piece’ … plus being the general ‘gofer’ on the project i.e. ‘the Sec’!

Kate Parsons - the wonderful designer @ who gave her time and design to make this book ‘very special’ and also helped on the ‘editing’.

Anne Fisher - the necessary ‘other’ signature on the cheques and one of the first to write her ‘piece’.

Honorary ‘women’:

Ian Matheson –in from the start. His comment after reading some of the pieces…’this will make and extra-ordinary book. It is so powerfully moving’.

Paul Laurijssens – all round ‘good egg’ - web designer @ (and ‘Friend’ with us in the orphanage project) who stepped in when we were pulling our hair out for a web designer as all this was eventually done under the tightest of deadlines!

Rod Shaw of Qwertyop - who came up with the best print deal in town thereby making the project possible to be completed.

Ian Drummond – fellow railway history writer and railway book publisher - who gave all sorts of advice in the friendliest possible manner.

theBook Project has just launched its first book! A 100 women from Britain. The lives of women in developed countries differs greatly from the lives of women in underdeveloped countries. With this first book we want to give women all over the world the chance the learn from each other.

What Is It?

theBook Project is an initiative started to support organisations that help empowering women in underdeveloped countries. In many countries women do not have the same opportunities as males do. Education, employment or going out with friends is unheard of.. But an educated girl with a proper job is in many cases the solution for a country's better future! Read here how the Book Project started and what you can do.
